Bengaluru: Amidst the controversies over the measures, including the ban on activities, the Congress is set to directly clash with the RSS in Karnataka as it has decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ambedkar burning the Manusmriti while the RSS is celebrating its centenary.

The party's new move comes at a time when the BJP and RSS are intensifying their attack against Minister Priyank Kharge, who wrote a letter to the Chief Minister demanding a ban on RSS activities in the premises of government institutions in the state. Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President DK Shivakumar and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge had met the other day and discussed the issue. The party high command has decided to provide strong support to Priyank Kharge.

Whenever Priyank raised criticism, the RSS and the BJP used to defend themselves by saying that it was the Congress that defeated Ambedkar. The issue was actively discussed in and outside the assembly after Dalit BJP leaders came forward to claim that the Congress had insulted Ambedkar.

Congress is counting on celebrating the 100th anniversary of Ambedkar burning the Manusmriti to attain the support of the Dalit and backward classes and break the BJP's defence based on Dalit leaders.

Congress MLA Ramesh Babu said that the party is planning to organise a grand event with the participation of senior party leaders as the 100th anniversary of Ambedkar's burning of Manusmriti approaches. BJP's Dalit leaders should clarify their stand on the anniversary of Ambedkar's burning of Manusmriti, he added.

In 1927, Dr BR Ambedkar led the Mahad Satyagraha in Maharashtra and protested by burning the Manusmriti.

Ramesh Babu asked what moral basis the Sangh Parivar leaders, who raise the Bhagavad Dwaja instead of the tricolour flag and the Manusmriti instead of the Constitution, are criticising the Congress leaders
