Modi was more generous to me than Congress: Ghulam Azad
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Former Congress member and senior leader in politics Ghulam Nabi Azad said told NDTV on Wednesday that he received more generosity from Prime Minister Narendra Modi than from the Congress party.
Azad, who formed his own party called Democratic Progressive Azad Party, said that Congress showed him little generosity for his years of dedicated service. He added that Congress would not come to power in a decade, NDTV reported.
He said that he hadn't attended any of PM Modi's dinner parties and it was "unbecoming" on his part. In the seven years of his term as Leader of Opposition, he had delivered seventy years' worth of speeches against the BJP, but the PM has ignored both and behaved like as statesman, Azad claimed.
He then praised former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his statesmanship too. Azad said that Sanjay Gandhi, when supposed to speak about the budget, spoke for 15 mins against Vajpayee. But Vajpayee did not utter a single word back.
He (Vajpayee) told Mrs Gandhi, 'You are the Prime Minister because of Sanjay Gandhi and your colleagues. Sanjay Gandhi got her power, which is why she is the leader. So, I am not going to say anything against him," NDTV quoted Azad.
However, the Congress has hit back at Azad, saying that he, along with Jyotiraditya Scindia, were huge beneficiaries of the Congress system and its leadership. However, with every passing day, they are proving that this generosity to them is undeserved since they revealed the true characters they kept hidden for a long.
