Mocked over skin colour: 16-yr-old commites suicide in Rajasthan

Jaipur: A 16-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide in Rajasthan's Dholpur district after reportedly being insulted by a classmate over the colour of his skin.

The victim, Rahul, a native of Thakrauli village in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, had been staying with relatives in Dholpur to pursue his studies. He was a Class 8 student at a school in the district.

According to police, Rahul had a minor argument with a female classmate on Thursday, during which she allegedly used a derogatory remark about his complexion. Police said he returned to his room that evening and allegedly died by suicide.

The incident came to light the next day when Rahul did not come out of his room. Family members checked on him and found him hanging. Police reached the spot after being informed by local residents and conducted an inspection.

Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. Police are investigating the case.
