Matrimony.com launches matchmaking app for LGBTQIA+ community
text_fieldsMatchmaking service Matrimony.com has launched an app, RainbowLuv, for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The new app is expected to reach up to 13 million users in India.
RainbowLuv is available on iOS and Android phones. It supports regional languages to boost user-friendliness in all parts of the country. Users will need to provide a government-issued identification document for safety purposes, reported Reuters.
The app caters to the LGBTQIA+ community with features like 122 orientation tags, 48 pronouns, and 45 gender identities. Popular dating apps like Bumble and Grindr also offer the choice of selecting pronouns and gender identities.
The Supreme Court in 2018 improved the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community with the partial repeal of Section 377. While same-sex relations are decriminalised, India currently does not accord legal status to same-sex marriage.
