New Delhi: Now, Haryana has officially renounced the wearing of masks in public places. Maharashtra, Delhi, and Haryana were the first to do so.

"Wearing of face mask by each person, while being in public places and workplace was made mandatory is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect," the state government order reads.

According to the document, the public is advised to follow the guidelines of "Covid appropriate behaviour", including wearing masks frequently, using sanitizer, and maintaining a social distance from others.

"No penalty or fine of ₹ 500 shall be imposed for not wearing masks in public or workplaces," the order said.

Since the number of fresh cases of Covid infection has dropped sharply in the country, the Centre had advised the states and union territories to discontinue the containment measures.
