Marco Rubio will visit India next month, according to the US ambassador to India, following what he described as a productive meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Washington.

Sergio Gor announced the visit on Friday after Misri met Rubio at the White House during his three-day trip to the United States.

“Productive meeting with @SecRubio that focused on our bilateral relationship, especially trade, critical minerals, defence and the Quad,” Gor wrote on X, adding that Rubio looked forward to visiting India next month.

The visit will be Rubio’s first trip to India as Secretary of State and comes after the conflict in West Asia disrupted global supply chains and energy security.

During their meeting, Rubio and Misri reviewed cooperation in trade, defence, critical minerals, and the Quad.

The Embassy of India in the United States said both sides looked forward to expanding cooperation to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

Misri also held separate meetings with Christopher Landau and Allison Hooker, where discussions focused on security, defence, and the economy.

According to the US State Department, Landau and Misri also exchanged views on the situation in the Persian Gulf and other regional issues.

Misri later met Jacob Helberg to discuss technology cooperation, including semiconductors, critical minerals, quantum technology, artificial intelligence, and nuclear energy.

The two sides also reviewed progress under the Pax Silica.

During his visit, Misri also met Kash Patel to discuss counterterrorism cooperation and held talks with Mike Duffey on defence ties.
