Reacting to newly appointed Health Mansukh Mandaviya's announcement denying vaccine shortage in the country, Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday slammed that Mandaviya is on the same path as his predecessor Dr Harsh Vardhan.

"The new Health Minister is treading on the same path as his predecessor. That is sad," said Chidambaram referring to the vaccine shortage across states. State after state is complaining of vaccine shortage, and people in queues return home without vaccines, he said.

Alleging that the public is being fooled by the current vaccine policy, he said, "Are all state Health Ministers who have complained about vaccine shortage lying? Are newspaper and TV reports of people being turned away because there are no vaccine doses fake stories? The conclusion is that between the Centre and the States, the people are being made to look like fools."
