The Congress party in Manipur has announced plans to move a no-confidence motion against the N Biren Singh-led BJP government in the state assembly.

State Congress president Keisham Meghachandra confirmed the move in a post on X, stating, "Brahmastra Missile will surely hit one of the Double Engine! Congress party set to move No Confidence Motion anytime soon."

While Meghachandra did not provide additional details, the Congress currently holds five seats in the 60-member Manipur Assembly. The National People's Party (NPP), another opposition party, has seven MLAs, adding to the opposition's strength.

Meanwhile, the BJP holds a majority with 32 seats and enjoys the backing of five MLAs from the Naga People's Front, six legislators from JD(U), as well as three Independent MLAs and two members from the Kuki People's Alliance.

With the BJP maintaining a strong majority, the no-confidence motion is unlikely to threaten the government's stability, but it signals growing opposition dissatisfaction with the ruling administration.
