On Sunday, a 30-year-old daily wage labourer stabbed six people, leaving one dead and five injured near Central Bengaluru at about 8:30 in the morning.

The incident occurred after the man, now identified as Ganesh, entered a Butcher's shop in Cottonpet, stole a knife from there and went on a stabbing spree. Spree lasted for about 30 minutes and spanned over 2 km in Cottonpet's Anjanappa Garden, Chalavadi Palya and Bakshi Garden before the police apprehended him.

The police said that one victim, Mari R., a 30-year-old daily wage labourer, has succumbed to the injuries in the hospital and passed away while another, Velayudham is in Intensive Care.

Ganesh was booked under Sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder), and the weapon recovered. Ganesh claims to be unaware of what he had done. The police also stated that he had been undergoing treatment at NIMHANS and that they will look further into the same.
