Man in makeup, girl's attire, caught impersonating girlfriend in exam
text_fieldsA man was caught after allegedly impersonating his girlfriend during a recruitment examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Punjab’s Faridkot district.
The incident allegedly occurred on January 7 at DAV Public School in Kotkapura, which was one of the examination centres for the entrance exam for the post of female multipurpose health worker.
Angrez Singh, 26, a resident of Saharan Nagar in Fazilka, came to the examination hall wearing a salwar kameez along with a stole and a cap, attempting to impersonate his girlfriend Paramjeet Kaur, 34, who belongs to Dhani Munshi Ram village in the same district.
He had shaved off his facial hair, applied makeup and affixed his photo, dressed like a girl, over that of Kaur, Kotkapura SHO Manoj Kumar said, reports The Indian Express.
Singh was caught after the officials found that his biometric details did not match those of Kaur.
“The candidate managed to enter the examination hall. However, the officials got suspicious as the picture of Paramjeet Kaur on the application form was not matching with the face of the candidate in question. Later biometrics were done and they didn’t match with the ones kept in the records. It was found that a boy named Angrez Singh had impersonated Kaur. He had even got a fake Aadhaar card, voter card and I card made in the name of Paramjeet Kaur,” Faridkot SSP Harjeet Singh said, reports The Indian Express.
Kaur had earlier failed in the exam. Though Singh said she was a relative, the investigation found out that they were not relatives, the police said
“On January 7, we sent him home as we had got nothing in writing from the university but on January 8, we got a complaint from Dr Deepak Bhatti, registrar of BFUHS, and thus lodged an FIR under IPC section 419 (impersonation) against Angrez Singh. We will include Kaur too as a co-accused in this case as without her permission, he could not have sat in the exam,” Manoj Kumar said, reports The Indian Express.
Angrez Singh was arrested and has got bail, the SHO said. “An investigation on the fake identity cards will be done after getting more details from the university,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajeev Sood said that Paramjeet Kaur’s paper had been cancelled.
“The police need to investigate how a person got fake Aadhaar and voter cards made… Last month in the nursing exam, the biometrics of one candidate had not matched and that candidate was sent back. We have devised a new means in which face identification and biometrics are a must before sitting in the exam. And the accused in question failed in biometrics as well as face identification,” he said.
As many as 7,500 candidates appeared for the exam held at 26 centres in Faridkot and Ferozepur.
