Man kills wife, two sons with axe, later dies by train suicide in Morena
text_fieldsMorena: A 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and two young sons with an axe on Friday night and later died by suicide after jumping in front of a passing train, police said on Saturday. Authorities are investigating the motive.
The incident occurred in Kishanpur village under Basaiya police station. The accused has been identified as Balram Singh Kushwaha. His wife, Ravita Kushwaha (32), and their sons, Aarav (8) and Debu (5), suffered fatal head injuries and were found dead inside the family home, police said.
Officials believe the attack happened late at night and went unnoticed because the house is enclosed by a high boundary wall. Neighbours discovered the bodies on Saturday morning after finding the main gate locked and alerted police.
According to investigators, Balram fled the scene and reached the Shikarpur railway crossing, where he reportedly jumped in front of a moving train. Railway authorities recovered his body and notified local police.
Basaiya Police Station in-charge Vivek Tomar said the crime scene was secured and evidence collected. A forensic team from the FSL inspected the site and gathered material for analysis, DSP Vijay Bhadoria said. Statements from relatives, neighbours and other witnesses are being recorded.
Preliminary enquiries indicate the couple had been quarrelling for about a month. Balram, who worked as a marble polisher in Bengaluru, had returned to the village roughly a month ago. Police are probing reports that he was disturbed after receiving a WhatsApp video showing his wife dancing at a Bhagwat Katha event. Ravita had reportedly been living separately for a period and had returned from her parental home three days before the killings.
Authorities stressed these are initial findings and said they are exploring all possible angles, including domestic discord and financial or personal issues. Further action will follow post-mortem and forensic results, DSP Bhadoria added.
