Mamata ‘cannot understand the pain of people here’: Congress leader
text_fieldsMurshidabad, West Bengal: West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is incapable of understanding people’s suffering.
Chowdhury took on Banerjee for her trip to Spain pointing out that it had taken place when dengue cases were spreading in the state.
‘We had already warned the state government about the rampant spread of dengue during August-September. This is due to the ignorance of the government towards the common people. They can go to Spain but cannot understand the pain of people here,’ the leader was quoted by news agency ANI.
Chowdhury said that Banerjee was staying at a luxurious hotel in Spain during her trip, and wondered how the chief minister could afford Rs 3 lakhs per day for stay.
‘We have heard that the Chief Minister does not take her salary. She sustains herself from the sale of her books and from her paintings. How could you afford to stay at a hotel in Madrid that costs ₹ 3 lakhs per day?’ Chowdhury asked.
He sought the chief minster to answer which Spanish company was to invest in the state, adding that the 10 percent of money she had spent on Biswa Bangla industrial meet could have helped create jobs for lakhs in Bengal.
Chowdhury trained gun on the BJP as well, saying that PM Modi promised Bullet trains but 'Guler' (joke) trains are being run because Vande Bharat trains do not achieve their actual speed and the fare is high.
The Modi government, he said, passed the Women's Reservation Bill to distract the people from the real problems that they currently face.
‘Modi government creates new issues before elections. At times Women's Reservation Bill, at times One Nation One Election...It is not easy to implement 'One Nation One Election' in our country. Modi knows this and everyone knows this. But it is important to address the issues of today. It is just a distraction to deflect people from their real problems,’ he was quoted as saying.
