Malavika Sachar joins Congress

Malvika Sachar, the youngest sister of Actor Sonu Sood, has joined Congress and will run for the party's seat in Moga in the upcoming Punjab Assembly election.

Charanjit Channi, chief minister of Punjab, and senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu met Sonu Sood and his sister Malvika Sachar at Sood's residence.

Channi said, "I am confident that Malvika will serve the people with the utmost honesty and integrity," adding, "Now there is no doubt about who will be Congress candidate from Moga."

Sidhu says her induction into the party promises to be a game-changer for other positions in the party as well

She deserves it, it is very rare for a party chief and a chief minister to visit someone's home together," he said.

Sachar, 38, who is married and runs her family business in Moga, said she has taken the political step because she wants to help the people.

Sachar, born to a family of business owners, told the media, "I am proud that my brother is helping those whose lives have been devastated by the pandemic.".
