Visuals from the Mahila Marathon organized by Congress as part of their election campaign clearly depict the stampede-like situation with girls falling over each other. Reports also confirmed that many of the participants were injured.

The Congress organized a program under the banner 'Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon' (I am a girl and can fight). The footage of the event went viral and it's clearly visible that the girl was falling to the ground. Congress sources denied the reports and further stated that participants were doing warming up exercise and also expressed they were 'brimming with enthusiasm'.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi coined the slogan. The event happened in the middle of rising concerns regarding the rapid increase in the Covid cases. However, none of the participants followed Covid protocol. Participants were not wearing masks and also did not maintain social distancing.
