Mumbai: A rapper named Raj Mungase from Aurangabad, Maharashtra has been booked by the Thane district police for allegedly creating a defamatory song against the BJP-Eknath Shinde Sena government.

The song, which is 1.08 minutes long, is a satire that highlights allegations of how MLAs were allegedly bought for 50 crores, taken to Surat, Goa, and Guwahati, and ultimately resulted in the MVA government being toppled, paving the way for a new alliance between Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde and the BJP.

The video was uploaded on March 25 on social media platforms by Mungase, who is a resident of Aurangabad (also known as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar). A complaint was filed against him by Snehal Kamble, a member of the Yuva Sena Core Committee, based on which an FIR was lodged.

Kamble has alleged that the video defames the current Shiv Sena-BJP government and suspects that Mungase may have the backing of Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, given that the video has been shared by MVA leaders and workers on social media platforms.

Mungase has been charged by the Shivaji Nagar police in Ambernath East under Sections 501, 504, and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which relate to printing or engraving defamatory matter, an intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill will between classes, respectively.

The video, which sparked the FIR, was uploaded by Mungase on March 25 on social media. Mungase is a resident of Aurangabad, which has recently been renamed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.

The complaint against him was filed by Snehal Kamble, a member of the Yuva Sena Core Committee, who alleged that the video defamed the current Shiv Sena-BJP government. Kamble also suspected that Mungase might have received support from Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, as the video was shared on social media platforms by MVA leaders and workers.
