Mumbai: Early vote tallies reveal Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) taking the lead in 29 of the state's 48 Lok Sabha seats, despite most exit polls for the Lok Sabha election pointing to a resounding victory for Mahayuti, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, in Maharashtra.

22 to 35 seats for Mahayuti in Maharashtra and 15 to 26 seats for the MVA were predicted by the exit polls. On June 4, though, things appear to be nearly the opposite.

According to estimates of the vote count as of 12 noon on June 4, the BJP has 13 seat lead, Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) parties are tied for first place in Maharashtra, each with 11 seats. All told, the INDIA alliance has gained ground in 28 seats: Sharad Pawar's NCP in 6, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena in 11, and the Congress in 11, Mint reported.

The NDA leads in 18 seats, with the BJP taking 11, the Shiv Sena taking 6, and the NCP taking one.

Furthermore, an independent candidate is leading from one seat.
