DK Shivakumar Rubbishes CBI Raids, Says I have Done Nothing Wrong
text_fieldsBangalore: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar said that he is being subjected to CBI raids as political vendetta. Though CBI has said that these raids are part of the investigation and along with the enforcement Directorate they have raided 14 of DK Shivakumar's premises, nine in Karnataka, four in Delhi and one in Mumbai. The FIR against the minister was filed on 3 October 2020 by the CBI after being accorded sanction on 25 September.
The FIR was registered by the CBI as it claimed that DK Shivakumar and his family members has accumulated an amount of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income from 1 April 2013 to 30 April.2018. This was the period when Shivakumar was serving as a Cabinet Minister in Karnataka government.
In response to the raid, DK Shivakumarmade a public statement in his house addressing Congress party workers. He said "I have done nothing wrong as a party worker, legislator, minister and MP in the past 30 years of my political career. May God does good to those who try to attack me and silence my voice. I am not attached to power." He also said that it is likely that the 'attack' will continue until the by-elections are complete.
DK Shivakumar further said "The CBI officials have taken into account all the saris and pants in my house. The officials are only following orders. Even though he CBI officers practice professionalism but that is not the case with ED officials, Shivakumar said. He further added that he cannot put a price to the goodwill of the party workers and that the DKShivakumar family has done nothing that would stain the reputation of the Congress Party.
