Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started carrying out psychological test of the accused in the Kolkata rape-murder case with five experts from the agency’s Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) overseeing the process, according to NDTV.

The test comes even as the incident continues to roil the state’s political circles with the Opposition targeting the ruling TMC.

The main accused identified as Sanjoy Roy is a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, according the report.

It is reported that on August 9, Roy was at the police outpost at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital having access to all departments.

The body of the 31-year-old postgraduate doctor, who had fallen asleep in a seminar hall Thursday night, was found the following morning partially clothed, with multiple injuries.

The CBI can carry out psychological test without requiring permission from a court, while other tests afterwards such as mapping, lie detector, narcoanalysis require court’s permission.

A team of five doctors from the agency reached the state capital yesterday to start the test by putting questions to Sanjoy Roy from a pre-prepartered list.

Meanwhile, a forensic team is at the hospital collecting evidence from the seminar hall where her body was found.

Psychoanalysis is psychological assessment carried out on undertrials to understand their habits, routine, and behaviour.
