text_fieldsMangaluru: Accusing her husband of giving an instant triple talaq, a woman from Karnataka’s Ullal filed a complaint with the Mangaluru police, the Times of India reported.
In a complaint with the Mangluru women's police station, the 23-year-old-petitioner accused her husband, Mohammad Dilfaz, of assaulting her and giving her instant triple talaq on November 8. She also accused her husband’s father, Umarabba, of harassing her, demanding dowry.
As per an FIR filed by the police based on Fathima’s complaint, Dilfaz married her on April 20, 2019, and her father gave 22 sovereign gold ornaments to her. Dilfaz had taken Rs 50,000 to buy a watch. Though Dilfaz had a good relationship with her for some time after their marriage, later, she learned that he was having affairs with other women. When she questioned him about this, he assaulted her, which led to her undergoing medical treatment.
Dilfaz continued his habit of beating her even after compromise meetings and advice from family elders. On November 8, Dilfaz assaulted Fathima after her father enquired him about his cruelty to her.
Following, he asked Fathima’s father to come to his house and gave her an instant triple talaq before sending her out of his house, says the FIR.
The complainant also accused Umarbba, Dilfaz’s father, of harassing her, demanding the Rs 8 lakh her grandmother invested in her name after its maturity.
Police informed that they booked a case under Sections 85 and 115 (2) of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act and Section 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.
