Khushboo apologizes for her controversial remark against Congress
text_fieldsChennai: BJP leader Khushboo Sundar has apologized for her insensitive remark calling the Congress as a party with "mentally retarded" people.
Last Tuesday, Khushboo made this comment after switching from Congress to BJP. The controversial statement of Khushboo gained widespread criticism from disability group activists. Nearly in 30 police stations of Tamil Nadu complaints have been filed against the actor for her derogatory comments about people with disabilities by the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD).
She apologised for her "incorrect use of a couple of phrases". She stated that her remarks were made in haste and deep distress, and also said that will never be repeated.
"I was in Congress for six years working hard for the party. But realized that I was in a party with impeding and mentally retarded only after quitting It,'' says Khushbu.
Tamil Nadu Congress chief KS.Alagiri officially stated that Khushboo's leaving doesn't affect Congress. "Her views differed from the High-Command. It's her own decision to join BJP and not invited by anyone," he added.
Khushboo is a well-known south Indian actress joined DMK in 2010 and then moved to Congress in 2014 as a national spokesperson. Khushboo, until recently, had been a strident critic of the BJP. But her surprise entry to BJP had shocked the political observers and the masses.
