Malappuram: Booth Level Officers are struggling with the BLO mobile application, with many reporting that they are unable to upload required information due to frequent technical failures. Officers say the app often becomes unresponsive, preventing them from completing data entry.

Previously, BLOs say they could complete data entry by spending extra hours on the app, even though it was time-consuming. However, they now claim that even late-night or early morning attempts are proving unsuccessful, as the app continues to fail during those hours. Complaints raised with senior officials have so far brought no solution. Officers also point out that the app is functional only on mobile devices, adding to their difficulties.

Meanwhile, protests by BLOs have intensified across the State over mounting workloads and pressure to meet targets. The distribution of SIR enumeration forms has slowed after more officers came forward alleging excessive demands.

In Kannur, a BLO collapsed again on Tuesday while on duty assigned by the Election Commission in the run-up to the local body elections. The officer, identified as Ramachandran, 53, from Kuttikkara, fainted during work in Ancharakkandy in the evening. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Ancharakkandy, where doctors said his condition was stable.
