Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed the writ petition filed by KT Jaleel, former Minister for Higher Education and Minority Welfare of Kerala, against a report of the Lok Ayukta charging him with nepotism, abuse of power and favouritism in giving government appointment to his second cousin by altering norms.

Upholding Lok Ayukta report, A division bench comprising of Justices PB Suresh Kumar and K Babu stated that Jaleel had not made out any ground for interference in the final opinion formulated by the Lok Ayukta.

In his petition, Jaleel had pointed out that the Lokayukta order which directs to expel him from the council of ministers will not have legal validity as the order was passed solely based on the oral arguments of the parties.

However, the high court dismissed these allegations and asked Jaleel's counsel whether the Minister was still in office, to which the Counsel responded that the minister had already resigned.
