Chennai: Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was sworn in as Acting Governor of Tamil Nadu Thursday at Guindy's historic People’s Palace. Madras High Court Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari administered the oath before senior leaders and officials.

This follows a Union government reshuffle: After West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose's resignation, President Droupadi Murmu shifted Tamil Nadu's R.N. Ravi to West Bengal. Arlekar now holds additional charge of Tamil Nadu until a permanent appointment.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Assembly Speaker M. Appavu, and ministers K.N. Nehru, M.R.K. Panneerselvam, E.V. Velu, Raghupathi, M. Subramanian, and Sekar Babu attended. Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagendran and former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan were present, along with top bureaucrats and police.

Arlekar arrived Wednesday night. Earlier, R.N. Ravi took oath as West Bengal Governor. Tamil Nadu administration continues smoothly under this interim setup.
