Kashi and Mathura after Babari? RSS pushes new debate

After claiming the possession of Babari Masjid stating as Rama Janmaboomi, RSS seems to brace themselves for lying claims for the Kashi and Mathura temples, reported Times of India. The move to reclaim Mathura and Kashi is by maintaining Krishna Janmaboomi and Jyotirlinga respectively.

RSS came to the forefront with a new agenda following the request of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Sangh Parivar outfit that supervised the demolition of Babri masjid. The war cry of VHP in the time of demolition of Babri Masjid itself resonated with their intention to reclaim Mathura and Kashi. The situation was mitigated, urged by RSS, as the verdict of Babri Masjid became in favor of them.

Recently, Mohan Bagvath had requested in a debate near Agra to keep calm and maintain peace regarding issues of Mathura and Kashi. As the pressure of Parivar organizations intensified, RSS pushed new debates in such a favorable political situation.

Proponents of Sangh Parivar want to work for "consensus" for an acceptance of "Hindu claims" on Kashi and Mathura. "There should be a debate on the issue in which the media can play an important role," a Sangh member said. "However, we believe that there should be a spontaneous approach rather than imposing another movement for any change in the structures of religious sites," the member added.

"We've gradually shed the British legacy. Similarly, there should be a debate on how long can one allow the existence of structures which symbolize attack on India's religious belief and traditions," the member said. "The Pope recently visited Iran with a sole purpose that the churches demolished should be reconstructed. Our country had witnessed similar attacks on religious monuments during Mughals and other Islamic rulers," he said.

Mathura court has recently accepted the petition stating that Shahi Eidgah Masjid in Mathura situates at the birthplace of Lord Krishna and it must be demolished. A host of people who claim themselves as devotees of Lord Krishna moved against the mosque in court. RSS seems to aim their new agenda legally and pushing new socially polarising debates.
