As just a few weeks to go for Mysore Dashera, State Medical Education Minister, Dr. K Sudhakar has asked officials from the Police department as well health department to be cautious as the covid 10 spread is still at the peak in the state. He said what went wrong in Kerala during Onam should not be repeated in Karnataka during the festival.

Karnataka's Dussehra is as important as Onam in Kerala. At the time of Onam, Kerala's decision to throw shops and public places open led to a massive spike in Covid patients. Hence the health officials and experts of Karanataka have recommended a simple Dussehra celebration. The state has decided to restrict public gathering and large festivities to check further spike in covid 19 patients. "However, the final decision will be taken regarding measures after the meeting with Cheif Minister B S Yediyurappa," the minister said.

As the festival will begin from October 17th and will last for ten days, the minister has asked the district administration to have a plan about containing and restricting huge gatherings in the city during the festival period. "Any such activity which may result in a further spike in Covid 19 patients need to be addressed in advance," said the Minister.

Unlike in the past, the famous Dashera procession will take place only in the Mysore place vicinity which will avoid huge gathering. However, lightning of Mysore city will not be curbed and it will be done as usual by teh Karanataka Electricity Board.
