Bengaluru: A fourth grader died in northern Karnataka after his teacher beat him and pushed him out of the school balcony, police said.
Muthappa Hadagali, teacher at Adarsh Primary School at Hagli village, allegedly beat the 10-year-old Bharat with a shovel.
Senior police officer Shivprakash Devaraju said the reason for the murder was not clear but the officer linked it to some family issues among them.
Muthappa reportedly attacked Bharat's mother, Geetha Barker who is a teacher at the school, and another teacher Nangangouda Patil was also attacked while intervening, according to PTI.
Muthappa Hadagali, a contract employee of the school, is missing after the incident.
A similar incident in Delhi last week had a teacher attacking a class 5 student with scissors, before flinging her from first floor of the school, NDTV reported.
The teacher reportedly locked herself up inside the classroom during the draft class, and threw water bottle "violently".
Afterwards she cut the hair of a girl and threw her from the balcony while another teacher vainly tried to stop her.
The girl has her cheekbone fractured and is unable to eat or drink but her condition is stable.
The teacher has been arrested and is facing charges of attempt to murder.
