A 45-year-old man in Karnataka accidentally swallowed a metal figure of Lord Krishna. Doctors at KLE's Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital performed a complex surgery to remove the idol.

The hospital said the patient has the habit of consuming holy water every day from a container that has the idol immersed in it. A few days ago, he accidentally swallowed the idol along with water. He approached the hospital with breathing difficulty, throat pain, and painful swallowing.

When the patient went to a local doctor, they detected a foreign body stuck in the throat using an X-Ray. Experts at the ENT Department of KLE Hospital confirmed the diagnosis by doing an endoscopy, reported The New Indian Express.

The idol was removed through emergency surgery. It was particularly complex because the left foot of the tiny statue was stuck in the food pipe of the man. The foot had to be freed before the idol was taken out through the mouth.

The discomforts the patient was experiencing were immediately relieved after the treatment. The intricate procedure was carried out by Dr Chaitanya Kamat, Dr Vinita Metgudmath, and Dr Priti Hajare.
