Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa expects to know his political future by evening

Bengaluru:Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that he is expecting a message regarding his political future by today evening.

There has been speculation about him being replaced for the past few weeks.

Yediyurappa told NDTV that he expects to receive a message from the BJP high command regarding the matter.

He added that if the message comes by evening, he will let the media know immediately.

"There is an event on July 26 on the completion of two years of our government here. After this, I will follow whatever (BJP president) JP Nadda will decide," he added.

The 78-year-old politician who took over from the coalition government in 2019 said that he has not been asked to resign.

Yediyurappa visited Delhi early in July and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As Karnataka is battling heavy rain and floods, the Chief Minister has left for Belagavi, one of the worst-hit districts. The state has so far recorded nine dead and three missing in the floods.

Dams in northern Karnataka were forced to release water due to torrential rain and thousands of people were evacuated.

Yediyurappa has asked his ministers to remain on the ground to supervise rescue and relief efforts.
