Haridwar: A Muslim family was reportedly attacked and their car vandalised by a group of Kanwariyas in Haridwar’s Manglaur area, Uttarakhand, following a minor road accident. A viral video of the incident showed a mob assaulting the family, including women and children. They also vandalised their car, causing serious damage to it. The footage shows the Kanwariya mob demanding the people in the car to get out and chasing and beating the man who drove the car, Madhyamam reported.

The incident reportedly occurred when the car the family was travelling in accidentally hit the Kanwariyas, who were walking on the road. The Kanwariyas then brutally attacked them after realising that the driver was from the Muslim community.
An Instagram post that shared the video says that the Haridwar Police have registered an FIR against eight accused individuals based on the complaint filed by the car owner, Nazim. The incident has sparked outrage, with calls for action against communal violence, the Instagram user ahmedkhabeer wrote.
