Kangana Ranaut visits Port Blair, pays respect to Sarvarkar in jail cell
text_fieldsMumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut has visited Port Blair In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as part of her shooting schedule for the movie 'Tejas' in which she plays Air Force pilot Tejas Gill. During the visit, the Bollywood actress visited the Cellular Jail in Port Blair in order to pay her 'deepest respects' to where freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was held for his involvement in the Indian Independence movement during British rule.
"Today on arriving in Andaman island I visited Veer Savarkar's Cell at Kala Pani, Cellular Jail, Port Blair…I was shaken to the core … when inhumanity was at its peak even humanity rose to its peak in the form of Savarkar Ji and looked it in the eye, faced every cruelty with resistance and determination…" the actress said on her official Instagram account.
"How scared they must have been of him not only they kept him in Kala Paani in those days it must be impossible to escape from this tiny island in the middle of sea yet they put chains on him built a thick walled jail and locked him up in a tiny hole, imagine the fear as if he can fly on thin air across the never ending sea, what cowards!" she added.
She also shared photos of the jail and its surroundings. Earlier, Ranaut had also met with Air Force officials who visited the sets of 'Tejas'. The actress received her 4th National Award for Best Actress on Monday for her performance in 'Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi' and 'Panga'.
