J&K: Security forces kill militant in encounter

Kashmir: Officials said on Saturday that one militant was killed during an encounter between militants and security forces at Kilbal area in Shopian district, south Kashmir.

"One terrorist killed. Operation going on," police said.

On the basis of specific intelligence about the presence of militants , a search operation was launched by a joint police and security team after a cordon of the area was erected and a firefight began between militants and security forces.

On their way to the place where terrorists were hiding, the security forces were hit by a high volume of fire, which triggered the encounter.
