Jharkhand Govt to provide destitute dhoti and saree at ₹10

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government announced that it will give dhotis or lungis, and sarees to all families in the state living below the poverty line twice a year at a subsidised rate of ₹ 10. The decision is as a part of Antyodaya Anna Yojana clothes will be given to the poor covered by National Food Security Act.

A decision to this effect was taken at a state cabinet meeting, chaired by state minister Hemanth Soren.

All eligible householders of the state covered by the National Food Security Act and those families eligible under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana will be given the clothes subsidised for 2 years at an interval of 6 months according to the Chief Minister's Office.

The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had already promised to provide dhoti and saree to the people in its election manifesto.
