Pune: Jay Pawar, son of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, on Wednesday demanded a thorough investigation into "possible serious lapses" behind the January 28 Learjet 45XR crash near Baramati airstrip that killed his father and four others. He also called for an immediate ban on VSR Ventures Private Limited, the operating aviation firm.

In a social media post, Jay insisted the aircraft's black box "cannot get destroyed easily" and stressed that Maharashtra's people deserve "transparent and whole truth" about the incident.

"A detailed investigation of possible serious lapses and irregularities of the aircraft firm should be done in a detailed and impartial manner," he added.

The demand follows Tuesday's meeting where Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar and NCP leaders urged CM Devendra Fadnavis for a CBI inquiry.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has sought expert help to retrieve data from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).

Earlier, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar alleged potential sabotage, demanding multi-agency scrutiny. At a press conference last week, he questioned pilot Capt Sumit Kapoor's record, noting his past three-year suspension for alcohol consumption.
