Jains, pretending Muslims, rescue goats on Eid: Swara Bhaskars dig

New Delhi: After an incident in Delhi where a group of people from the Jainism faith disguised as Muslims and bought goats before being slaughtered as part of Eid in a purported bid to rescue the animals, actor Swara Bhasker took a dig at the group of Jains. On a social media post, she wondered what happened to the goats after they were rescued, The Free Press Journal reported.

On Wednesday, Swara took to X and wrote, "I hope the goats have been adopted by the 'rescuers' and are being lovingly treated as cherished pets.. Rescue karna hai toh Aagey ki zimmedaari bhi lo!"

She restricted replies under her post. But many shared and reshared her post to criticize her. Some of the users questioned her for mocking those who saved "a few lives".

A user wrote, "Why is mockery been devised out of someone's care for living beings?"

Another wrote, "Life savers are better than life takers, be it any life."

However, Swara did not stop with her post. She reshared a post by a user who is of Jainism faith stated that dressing up Muslims on Bakri Eid seemed "less religion, more Islamophobia".

The post read, "Jeev Daya is a Jain concept in which one donates money in individual capacity to save animal lives. Normally we do so on our festivals. Release birds kept in cages, fund gaushalas, etc. But to dress up as Muslims and do so on Bakrid seems less religion more Islamophobia."

Swara is married to Samajwadi Party leader Fahad Ahmed. She took to X on June 17, Eid Day, sharing photos of their daughter Raabiyaa celebrating her first Bakri Eid.
