Representational.

New Delhi/Chennai: India on Friday successfully tested a hypersonic vehicle trial. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) jointly carried out the trial, Asian News International reported.

ISRO, India's premier space research agency, said that the joint hypersonic vehicle trial satisfied all the predetermined targets.

ISRO tweeted, "@ISRO and JSIIC @HQ_IDS have jointly conducted Hypersonic vehicle trials. The trials achieved all required parameters and demonstrated Hypersonic vehicle capability."

ISRO also successfully tested a booster motor for its PSLV-XL rocket. The motor, made by Economic Explosives Ltd, is called PSOM-XL and was tested at its rocket port in Sriharikota on Wednesday.

The organisation said that the booster's performance was satisfactory, IANS reported.

According to the ISRO, with this test, the private industry's capability to produce the stage for PSLV has been established.

This is the first step in the end-to-end production of PSLV throughout the industry.

The ISRO transferred the technology to Economic Explosives Ltd, Nagpur, in 2019.

The commercial arm of the Department of Space (DoS) NewSpace India Ltd has selected the HAL-L&T-led consortium to make five PSLV-XL rockets.
