New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked the governments, in states where protests broke out against derogatory comments on Prophet Muhammed, to ask for National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe children being used in the demonstrations and ensued violence, PTI reported.

The child rights organisation chairperson, Priyan Kanoongo, alleged on Saturday that children might have been used in the protests and demonstrations by dubious organisations. In his tweet in Hindi, he said that the NCPCR had urged the state governments to recommend the Centre a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the matter.

The use of children in last week's violence may have been coordinated by dubious organisations, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Priyank Kanoongo alleged in a tweet in Hindi.

It was on June 10 that violence ensued protests in several parts of the country, where many took streets demanding criminal actions against the two suspended BJP spokespersons, Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, over their controversial- derogatory statements insulting Prophet Muhammed. Sharma made her comments in a TV interview and stated later she was withdrawing her comments, claiming that she was responding to continuous insult and disrespect toward Lord Shiva. Jindal made his comments through social media. Both got suspended from the party after a huge uproar. The latest from the string of news was Mumbai Police reporting that Nupur Sharma went untraceable.

The communal violence incidents that happened in various places have injured many, including police personnel.
