INS Satpura shows prowess in Excersize Kakadu-2022, Australia

New Delhi: The INS Satpura, India's indigenous warship, has shown her prowess in the ongoing Kakadu-2022 multinational naval exercise hosted by Australia, PTI reported.
It was on September 12, INS Satpura and P-8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft reached Darwin in Australia and joined the Royal Australian Navy to participate the exercise.
An Indian Navy official said, "The ship participated in various anti-submarine warfare exercises, anti-ship warfare exercises, manoeuvres and has also showcased her precise target destruction capability during gun firing exercises," on Sunday.
According to the Indian Navy, India's participation in Exercise Kakadu-2022 aims at "enhancing mutual understanding and interoperability at sea among navies of friendly foreign countries," PTI quoted.
The indigenously designed and built INS Satpura is a 6000-tonne guided-missile stealth frigate.
The warship is a frontline unit of the Eastern Fleet of the Navy, rooted in Vishakhapatnam, and is currently on one of the longest deployments by the Indian Navy in the 75th year of India's Independence, officials said.
The defence ministry's statement on September 13 said, "The two-week-long exercise, both in harbour and sea, involves ships and maritime aircraft from 14 navies. During the harbour phase of the exercise, the ship's crew will engage in operational planning interactions and sports activities with participating navies."
