Following complaints from users of the new e-filing website of the Income Tax department, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday tagged Infosys and its co-founder Nandan Nilekani.

"The much-awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched last night 20:45hrs.I see in my TL grievances and glitches. Hope @Infosys & @NandanNilekani will not let down our taxpayers in the quality of service being provided. Ease in compliance for the taxpayer should be our priority," Sitharaman tweeted.

As per Sitharaman's tweets, the new URL went live at 8:45 PM and created technical difficulties after receiving heavy traffic.

The website allegedly includes features to make the e-filing experience smoother, simpler and smarter, including a single dashboard for follow-up actions by the taxpayer and multiple payment options.

Regarding the new tax payment system, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) clarified, "It is clarified that the new tax payment system will be launched on June 18, 2021, after the advance tax instalment date to avoid any taxpayer inconvenience."
