IndiGo rejects reports of smoke in its Raipur-Indore flight cabin

India's largest airline IndiGo on Thursday rejected reports that claimed there was smoke in the cabin of flight 6E-905 from Raipur to Indore on Wednesday (July 6). IndiGo added that there was no smoke in the cabin but was rather the mist created by the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system because of humidity.

They also said the inflight shutdown of engines on IndiGo flights was also not true.

"There have also been statements made on inflight shut down of engines on IndiGo flights. There have been no such incidents on our aircraft in the recent past," said the private airline which operates more than half of its domestic flights.

According to IndiGo, these reports appear to have been falsely propagated by vested interests to mislead customers and authorities.

IndiGo's statement on flight safety comes amid several technical glitches reported by other airlines, particularly SpiceJet. SpiceJet has been involved in at least eight technical glitches in the past three weeks, the NIE reported.

This forced aviation regulator DGCA to issue a show-cause notice to SpiceJet asking why action should not be taken against the airline for failing to "establish a safe, efficient and reliable air services," under the terms of Rule 134 and Schedule XI of the Aircraft Rules, 1937.

Apart from SpiceJet, the Vistara flight from Bangkok suffered an engine failure after landing at the Delhi airport, but all passengers disembarked safely. The airline said one of the engines suffered a 'minor' electrical fault after landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday.
