Indians must consider working in Germany: German Chancellor

New Delhi: Skilled workers in India, such as IT specialists, must consider working in Germany, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged before concluding his two-day visit to India, Bloomberg reported.
Scholz said that the German administration is looking into reducing barriers to immigration, and it will bring a point-based system to grant visas. Specialists who do not have received a job offer could also apply for the visas after the system comes online, Olaf said.
However, the Chancellor didn't detail the specifics on how many workers could benefit from the new move by the German coalition government.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru, Olaf said that he believes that many Indians wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to work as a skilled workers in his country.
While visiting the workers at SAP Labs India in Bangalore, he said he was determined to reduce the bureaucratic barriers to immigration for skilled workers from India to get jobs in his country. He will "make it easier to come to Germany as a specialist, including with your own family," Bloomberg quoted him.
German administration is at the final stage of working out a draft law to ease immigration barriers, the pointed-based system, Olaf said. He added that the new system is comparable to those in countries like Canada. Those interested will have an advantage if they have a good command of German.
He said that Germany wanted workers in all areas of employment and particularly in software and IT development.
The German Chancellor landed in India to deepen economic ties with India. He, who came with a large business delegation, informed on Saturday that he would make efforts to boost talks between European Union and India for a trade-investment agreement.
