Indian and Pakistan armies exchange sweets on LoC to celebrate Eid

Indian and Pakistan armies engaged in the customary exchange of sweets at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. The gesture is aimed at further enhancing peace and harmony in Jammu Kashmir. A ceasefire is in existence along the border.

Sources said two armies exchanged sweets at Teetwal crossing on Kishanganga river in Tangdhar in Kupwara district and Kaman Post (Aman Setu), Uri in Baramulla district.

Contingent of 6 JAK Rifles exchanged sweets with Pakistan Rangers at Teetwal. In a similar meeting, contingent of 11 Dogra held the exchange with its Pak counterparts at Kaman Post (Aman Setu).

Both armies agreed on a renewed ceasefire along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir in February 2021. The agreement has been holding despite minor violations.

An official spokesperson of the Border Security Force tweeted that the BSF has always been at the forefront in creating a peaceful and congenial atmosphere on the border while dominating the border effectively.

A similar friendly act was carried out to mark the New Year and last year's Diwali as well.
