Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that 70% of India's adult population had received first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. The minister hailed the landmark achievement, which as of latest reports has taken the cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at over 90.79 crore as per latest reports.

"Strong Nation, Rapid Vaccination: India has administered the first dose of #COVID19 vaccine on 70% of the population. Under PM @NarendraModiji, India is achieving new landmarks in the fight against the pandemic. Keep it up India, let us fight Corona," the minister said in a tweet. Mandaviya had also celebrated a landmark 900 million vaccination mark which was a step closer to the government's plan to deliver at least a single dose of vaccine to every adult in India by December 2021.

Over 23,46,176 vaccine doses were given in the last 24 hours through 88,05,668 sessions held across the country revealed the Health Ministry. In September, daily vaccination averaged over 79 lakh a day, a huge jump from 59.19 lakh in August and 43.42 lakh in July. The population of those vaccinated with both doses of the vaccines has reached 25%. Over 5 crore doses of the vaccines were available for states and Union Territories to administer according to ministry data.
