India today logged 10,929 coronavirus cases, 14 per cent lower than yesterday (12,729). The country reported 392 deaths in the last 24 hours, the health ministry said.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 29 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 132 consecutive days now.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.35 per cent. It has been less than two per cent for last 33 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.27 per cent. It has been below two per cent for the last 42 days, according to the ministry.

The number of active cases came down to 1,46,950 from 1,48,922 on Friday, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 6,580 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 875 cases, Maharashtra with 802 cases, West Bengal with 763 cases and Mizoram with 513 cases.

87.23 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 60.21 per cent of the new cases.

Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (314), followed by Maharashtra with 17 daily deaths.

A total of 12,509 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,37,37,468 across the country. With this, India's recovery rate now stands at 98.23 per cent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 107.92 crore.

The active cases comprise 0.43 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March last year.

This week, the World Health Organization granted Covaxin an Emergency Use Listing, which means the 'made-in-India' vaccine will finally be recognised by other countries and Indians who received the shot need not self-quarantine or face restrictions when travelling abroad.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India's caseload crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
