Jaipur: India is punishing the Congress for its "sins" Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked on Sunday. He said that Congress is a party that won 400 seats in Lok Sabha elections once, and now it is unable to contest even 300, PTI reported.

At an election rally in Rajasthan, Modi said, "In the first phase of voting, half of Rajasthan has punished Congress. Rajasthan, which is full of patriotism, knows that Congress can never make India strong."

He claimed that India does not want the conditions that were there before 2014 to return.

"The Congress has hollowed out the country by spreading termites of nepotism and corruption. And today, the country is angry with Congress and is punishing it for these sins," he said. "The Congress party is itself to be blamed for its present condition ... The party which had once won 400 seats is unable to contest 300 seats on its own."

PM Modi was addressing a public meeting in Bhinmal of Jalore district in support of BJP candidate Lumbaram Chaudhary.

On Saturday, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah claimed that When the BJP says the party will win more than 400 seats, the Congress get a stomach ache and claims that the BJP will remove reservations.

Speaking at Rajasthan's Kota, Shah slammed Congress, claiming that if the party came into power, Kota would have become the centre of the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI). Congress has promised that they will lift the ban on the party if they come into power, Shah said, adding that Congress is an antidevelopment party.
