Dubai: In a move to strengthen the cooperation in maritime security, the naval forces of India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have conducted a joint military exercise.

The exercise featured the participation of Indian naval ships INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand, both of which arrived at Port Rashid in Dubai on August 8.

Following meticulous planning over two days, the bilateral maritime partnership exercise took place with the aim of augmenting interoperability and synergy between the two naval forces. This was achieved through cross-training sessions focused on tactics, techniques, and procedures, said a statement from the Indian Navy.

One of the participating vessels, INS Visakhapatnam, is under the command of Captain Ashok Rao. This ship is recognised as one of the largest operational destroyers in the Indian Navy and stands as a product of indigenous ingenuity, being completely constructed by Mazagon Docks Limited.

The other vessel, INS Trikand, is commanded by Captain Pramod G Thomas and serves as an advanced stealth frigate, having been commissioned in 2013. The Navy elaborated that this ship embodies modern warfare technology integrated into its design, resulting in stability, stealth capabilities, speed, and a formidable presence.
