Increasing Covid cases in Haryana prompt mandatory masks in Gurgaon and Faridabad
text_fieldsAs a result of an uptick in cases of Covid, the Haryana government today made wearing a face mask public places compulsory in Gurugram, Faridabad and two other districts.
Anil Vij, Haryana's health minister, said officials have made mask wearing mandatory in Gurugram and three other districts within the state, including Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhajjar, after an outbreak of Covid occurred.
Located in the national capital region (NCR), these four districts are nearby New Delhi.
Over the last 24 hours, there have been 501 fresh cases of Covid in Delhi. The daily positivity rate, an indicator of the infection's spread throughout the population, rose from 4.42 per cent yesterday to 7.72 percent today.
Among the 234 cases in Haryana that surfaced today, 198 were from Gurugram and 21 from Faridabad. In Uttar Pradesh, the government had also announced a mask mandate earlier this morning.
