Including Muslims in BC list conspiracy against Hindus: Union minister
text_fieldsHyderabad: Union minister for state for home affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, claimed that adding Muslims to the BC list in Telangana is part of a larger conspiracy against Hindus. He claimed that such a move would jeopardise the chances of Hindus winning BC reserved constituencies in the future, Deccan Chronicles reported.
While the opposition BRS has been criticising that the BC numbers have come down in the survey that was conducted by the Congress government, the ruling party has been defending, stating the BC numbers, including those belonging to minority Muslims, stand at 56.33% of the total population that was enumerated. According to the survey, the BC population stands at 46.25%, and BCs among Muslims were 10.08%.
Addressing an election rally as part of the MLC election in Karimnagar, Sanja cited past GHMC election results as proof to claim that due to the 4% reservation policy implemented by the YS Rajasekhar Reddy government, Muslims won seats that should have gone to BC candidates.
"On one hand, BC population percentages are being deliberately reduced in caste enumeration. On the other hand, Muslims are being added to the BC list to inflict a severe blow to Hindu society. Congress is insulting BC communities. If Muslims are mistakenly classified as BCs, they will dominate villages, and Hindus will lose representation. Why are BC organisations silent in the face of such injustice? Why have they shut their mouths?" DC quoted the minister.
Criticising intellectuals and graduates for alleged silence, he claimed that their inaction was a misfortune. He requested voters to teach Congress a lesson in the MLC elections and support BJP candidates. Then, he mocked Congress for its disastrous performance in the national capital.
