Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday removed posters reading ‘I Love Muhammad’ from several localities in Ghaziabad, saying the move was a precautionary measure in the wake of unrest in Bareilly, and not due to pressure from Bajrang Dal.

The posters, which had been put up in Kidwai Nagar, Adarsh Colony and Maliknagar, were reportedly opposed by Bajrang Dal members led by Madhur Nehra. According to reports, they had raised objections with senior police officials and warned that they would remove the posters themselves if the police did not act.

Dismissing these claims, Modinagar ACP Amit Saxena told Siasat.com, “The posters have not been removed due to a complaint from Bajrang Dal; the action was taken as a precautionary measure, keeping in mind the unrest in Bareilly.” He also clarified that no cases had been filed in connection with the matter.

Some reports suggested that after the removal, Hindu groups put up posters with slogans such as ‘I Love Shri Ram’ and ‘I Love Mahadev’. ACP Saxena, however, said he was not aware of any such incident.
