'I bow at your feet': Prime Minister reminisces his mother's life on her 100th birthday
text_fieldsAhmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited his mother's residence in Gujarat to celebrate her 100th birthday. Heeraben Modi stays at the residence of her youngest son, Pankaj Modi in Gandhinagar.
Narendra Modi is the third of the Modi siblings. Soma Modi, Amrut Modi, Prahlad Modi, Pankaj Modi, and their sister Vasanti are the rest five of the family.
The ANI had earlier released snippets of Modi's visit to the residence on its official Twitter page.
"As Hiraba is turning 100 years old, we have organized a Nav Chandi Yagna and recitation of Sundar Kand at Hatkeshwar Temple in Vadnagar. A Sangeet Sandhya has also been organized at the temple on the occasion," said Prah;ad Modi to the Indian Express.
In his two-day visit to Gujarat, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and set the foundation for projects worth over Rs 21,000 crore during the Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan in Vadodara. He will also travel to Pavagadh in the Panchmahal district for inaugurating the redeveloped Kalika Mata temple, reports said.
The government of Gujarat released a statement saying that Modi has wished a healthy and long life to his mother.
He has also released a blog-post commemorating his mother's sacrifice and dedication to bringing up her children.
"Since childhood, I have noted that Mother not only respects others' choices but also refrains from imposing her preferences. In my own case especially, she respected my decisions, never created any hurdles, and encouraged me. Since childhood, she could feel that a different mind-set grew inside me," wrote Modi in his blog post.
