Telangana: The central government has granted a request of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official based in Hyderabad to alter their gender from female to male and change the name from M Anasuya to M Anukathir Surya.

A petition for the change was filed with the Ministry of Finance by M Anukathir Surya, who is currently employed as a Joint Commissioner in the Chief Commissioner's office of the Customs Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) in Hyderabad. The request was granted by the government, and henceforth would be referred to in all official documents as "Mr. M Anukathir Surya.”
